February 20, 2016 Android Rumours Samsung

A person who is said to be an employee of Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has leaked some details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7. The employee passed along the information to Naver, a Korean internet content provider. Previous leaks along with recent benchmark tests revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will feature a 5.1-inch display while the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge will come with a 5.5-inch screen.

Again, as always the case with leaks like this, we would like to remind you to take this new leak with a grain of salt. With that out of the way, let’s move on.

The information passed along by the alleged Samsung employee mentioned that a black chassis will be used by all variants of the Galaxy S7 to give them a more premium look. In addition to that, Samsung is said to have plans of marketing the phone’s ability to take great pictures at night or in low-light situations. The handset is rumored to come with a 12MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture and will be marketed with a slogan the sounds like “On the night” or something like that.

The leakster further mentioned that the step-down to 12MP (down from the Galaxy S6’s 16MP) is due to the fact that Samsung is no longer focused on megapixel count but is rather looking at sensor size and capacity instead. Additionally, the Galaxy S7 is purported to use a dual-pixel auto flash similar to what is used in the DSLR cameras of Canon. This auto flash is said to reduce noise and make colours more vibrant. The best part? The camera hump will no longer be on the upcoming Galaxy flagship, according to the Samsung employee.

The leakster also mentioned that the Galaxy S7 will have dust and waterproofing capabilities. Looking back, this feature was included in the specs sheet of the Samsung Galaxy S5 but was later removed in the Samsung Galaxy S6. Additionally, all variants of the upcoming flagship will allegedly feature a hybrid dual SIM slot that will let users make use of a microSD card for memory expansion – another feature that the manufacturer removed in the Galaxy S6 but is now bringing back to its new flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will reportedly be available in four colours: Black, White, Silver, and Gold. The best news however is that the capacity of the battery of the upcoming flagship will be raised and increased.
