Key Features & Specifications of Galaxy Note 9 that You Should Know

August 24, 2018 Samsung new-launch Android

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is finally here and it comes with spec improvements, some better than others. The model comes in 128GB and 512GB variants. As the card slot will allow you add up to 512GB of additional storage so we are looking at a 1TB worth of storage on the 512 GB Note 9. The 512 GB card has yet to be announced by Samsung but we can expect that it is not going to be cheap.

Having 20% more battery capacity than its predecessor and 500mAh more than the Galaxy S9+, Note 9 battery stands at a generous 4,000mAh capacity. This could account for its additional thickness of 0.2mm. The display is at 6.4-inch, which is a solid 0.2 inches larger than the screen of S9 Plus model.

The S Pen notwithstanding its similar appearance to the former one, can now interact with the phone from a distance using Bluetooth like how a presentation remote works besides working as a typical Note stylus hovering over the display. Other than these notable upgrades, Note 9 is pretty much like a Galaxy S9+.

Note 9 has the usual dual lens configuration (a main module of 1/2.55" sensor paired with a 12MP telephoto cam with f/2.4 aperture, 52mm equivalent focal length and a slightly larger 1/3.4" sensor) for its back camera and an 8MP selfie camera.

The camera app UI is largely the same as the one on the S9+, other than addition of the Scene optimizer.

Scene optimizer when toggled on, displays an icon in the viewfinder telling you the scene mode it's picked. It apparently is able to recognize 20 types of scenes.

Pro mode is available too and is one of the best around. You can select ISO (50-800), push shutter speed around (1/24000s-10s), manually choose the aperture of the main cam (f/1.5 or f/2.4), focus manually (with peaking to aid you), select the white balance etc. Other than that, it's essentially the same camera app as the one on S9+.

Besides having standard set of connectivity as well as a headphone jack, Note 9 is also the first Galaxy Note smartphone with stereo speakers.
